Credit Monitoring
This is a program component whereby the credit report data
is monitored for significant events.
This is accomplished anywhere from daily to
monthly and the individual is notified of any major events
that take place on the credit reports. Events that would
act as a trigger include address changes, application for
loans, significant change in credit score, change in account
status and similar transactions. Typical notification is
done through email.
The advantage of this component is that it
yields a more immediate indication if there is some type
of adverse credit activity taking place that would not show
up until the individual received a full credit report, perhaps
not until almost a year later.
Credit monitoring, like fraud monitoring,
is a proactive program to assist in early detection which
can mitigate the effects of identity theft.
